As we begin this trip it is unlike the others that we have taken to Cesis. This time we (Laura and Mark) will be staying for 14-months. As we pack we know that we can't take everything; but what will we need and what can we do without? We have limited ourselves to fourteen bags, hopefully we will learn that we can live with a lot less than we normally do.
The hardest part of the trip is saying our goodbyes. No matter how much support we receive from our friends and relatives (and we have been overwhelmed with good wishes and promises of prayers) it is still difficult knowing that we won't see them for the next six months (until Christmas). Our relatives have been very supportive and know that this is God's will for us. I have several aunts past the age of 85 and it is especially diffcult to leave them as they are the last of my family's oldest generation. We so blessed that they are all strong Christian women that have been models of the way to live a full life.
Saying goodbye to our sons also have been difficult. Adam is still in college in Dallas and Andrew lives in Athens. They both know they will also have to make sacrifices while we are gone but they have been happy that we are going to be able to continue the work that God has started in us.
To all of our friends, relatives, co-workers and First Baptist family: we thank you so much for your encouragement, support and prayers. Please check back to this blog often as we hope to keep you up-to-date on what is happening in the beautiful city of Cesis.
Ata,
Mark
