BACK IN THE SADDLE

We have returned to Cesis from our May trip home. We are rested and ready for the summer work to begin.

Our schedule will be a little different this year. We normally have a team from FBC-Athens come over the first of week of July to help with summer sports camps, youth activities and many other projects. While those activities have been well received we have decided to go in another direction for this summer.

Our emphasis with our youth will be directed by three summer interns from Texas. Two of these, Thomas Moore and Amanda Owen, have been to Cesis previously on the short term mission trips. The third intern is Landry Humphries from Tyler, Texas. These guys will be with us until at least July 12, possibly longer

They will reach out to the Cesis young people through weekly camps, youth fellowships, music instruction, English lessons and just building relationships. We are here to help them and assist them but they are responsible for how the activities will be presented, what is offered and follow-up plans. We have been impressed so far with their work ethic and how strong they are in their own Christian faith. The first week has been great with them and things are going really well.

In early July, we will have an adult group from FBC-Athens visiting in Cesis to work with the Cesis Church on construction projects. They will use their skills to improve the appearance and usability of the Cesis church facility. Finances are extremely tight in all of Latvia and this team will help relieve some of the burden on the Cesis Church.

It's going to be a great summer in Cesis. I will keep you updated as time allows.
